Venue - Jumeirah Hotel, Abu Dhabi iata strategic partner logo
Event Date - Thursday October 18, 1230-1800 Hours (starts with a lunch)
Hosted by - Optiontown and Amadeus in cooperation with IATA
Event Association - IATA World Passenger Symposium
Ancillary revenues reported by airlines rose to €18.23bn in 2011, an increase of 66% in two years. We expect this figure to grow considerably as the industry develops ever more sophisticated approaches to generating ancillary revenues.
For example, research at the Center for Transportation & Logistics at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) has shown that traditional commercial techniques miss an important angle in achieving the best possible financials for airlines: the consumers' unfulfilled desires.
The concept of 'Concurrent Optimization' extends airline efforts to capture value from consumer surplus using Dynamic Travel Options to unlock this potential of 5-7% incremental revenues.

and value for travelers.
Amadeus will present a summary of how airlines are leveraging distribution technology currently available to profitably increase their revenues and manage a consistent merchandising strategy across all customer touch points.

Optiontown will show how airlines can use Dynamic Travel Options to learn about, and meet, their customers' unfulfilled desires by offering Dynamic Travel Options after they have purchased a ticket but before the flight departs.

This approach can be used by airlines to:

Smooth spikes in demand and balance demand patterns
Overcome operational issues
Increase load factors
Generate additional revenue

"Satisfied customers experiencing new levels of convenience and comfort are the 'by-product' of this new revenue stream in ancillaries."

During the interactive workshop, we will:

Review the current state-of-the-art in Ancillary Services sales with Amadeus.
Evaluate the Dynamic Travel Options concept and its implications on adding a new stream of ancillaries that focus on optimizing unsold inventory with a key-note from an external speaker and a panel of industry experts.
Hear testimonials of airline users on how Dynamic Travel Options have enhanced their product mix, revenues and profitability while improving client retention, and the overall customer experience.
One such case study is shown here - with an airline partner, more than 1% of the flown passengers bought the Empty Seat Option (ESo) within 3 months of launch of the product. ESo offers customers a chance to secure 1 or 2 empty seats next to them.
